G1 HENKAI SKYFIRE

Skyfire, is a significant role in Transformers in the generation 1 story line. He was a weapon scientist in cybertron during the initial times and was also a good friend of starscream before entering the war between autobots and deceptercons. He was announced missing after being dragged into the galaxy thunder storm during his traveling in space, searching for new materials for his research. After million of years, the deceptercons found him buried in the iceberg on Earth. Obviously this fellow didn't know what was happening with regards to the war among the transformers when he awaken, so he joined the deceptercons after being persuaded by his good friend starscream. As everybody knows, he left deceptercons and joined the autobots after he was betrayed and realized the ruthlessness of the deceptercons and that Magetron is a figure of Tyranny.

In the beginning, I wasn't planning on getting this guy. Until one day, it appeared on the rack with an attractive price tag. It never occurred to me that Skyfire had appeared in dark color scheme in the TV series before, but obviously this guy is belong to the deceptercons.

Speaking about the figure itself, I can say that this thing is almost movie accurate. The dark color scheme allows him to appear sharper, fiercer and more serious. The jet form is molded base on VF-25 or F-15 in the military battle jet. Many people said that this figure is a "remold" of macross VF=25 figure. Well it does look very similar in some aspects, but it is still Skyfire without any doubt.

The figure also comes with some nice goodies, the add on power thruster. The cannon that hides inside the thruster pack will flip out when you pull down the sliding part on the portion near the thruster. The thruster is chromed, with a nice looking silver color.

This figure can also transform to some kind of a semi robot / jet mode, looks familiar right? (Macross again :)).

Another thing that amazes me is, the head of Skyfire can actually be fully covered in the Jet mode with the helmet. There is no necessary reason to detach any parts during the transformation, it spells good design engineering.

In robot mode, this fellow looks big and heavy, some people said that he looked bulky on his torso, but I deem that this is how Skyfire was meant to be, it is accurate in comparison with the movie character.

The designer never let you down, you will still have many features to play on with this fellow in robot mode -- the Jet pack and heavy fire weapons.

With everything on, this fellow is now fully loaded...

He appears more like a heavy fire machine rather then a scientist when his helmet is on and all cannons and missiles are loaded.

I heard that this fellow even can "Combine" with the G1 Henkai Optimus prime, will try it out later after checking with my friend.
